The new convenio for language teaching in Spain, the X Convenio colectivo de Enseñanza y formación no reglada, has been signed and published in the BOE. So it is now official.
Remember, it is very important for everyone involved in teaching: teachers, academy and school owners etc, to know their rights and duties, and the convenio is the main reference point for these in TEFL.
As a quick summary: contracts and levels in teaching are described in detail, and there is a rise in salaries with retroactive effect, from January 2025.
Which will be great for teachers (and I’m happy for that, as most of as have been and are teachers), and another nail in the coffin for academy owners. It’s very difficult to organise a budget when your expenses change retroactively, specially when it’s not the best time for academy and business owners.
